INSIDE ICE

Summer
Away Day

On selected days throughout the working year the ever growing team at ICE loosen their ties, replace the business shirts with t-shirts, don the jeans and spend the day looking at what makes the organisation tick.

Our most recent 'Away Day' was also a chance to look at ways in which our team can celebrate our upcoming 10th birthday, and some fantastic ideas have been suggested ... so watch this space!

Whilst the morning looked at our ongoing business development, the main emphasis was on learning more about the people we work with. One exercise saw us discover that we have a ‘father to be’ amongst our ranks, along with a vast array of divers, a movie actor (well an extra) and a number of martial arts experts!

Bad weather meant a plan for outdoor activities in the afternoon were replaced with a trip to the bowling alley.

Paul Fergusson, our IT man, talked up a good game, however after opening with a series of stunningly glorious gutter balls it soon became clear he was in for a long day ahead.

Our senior marketing practitioner, Jayne Hampson also made it to the bloopers reel. Her desire to rip the ball down the lane as fast as humanly possible saw her impressive wind-up become too powerful, and as she approached the lane the ball flew from her grasp and in the direction of her team mates waiting behind who quickly scurried to safety.

MEET THE TEAM

Introducing….
Joy Knight, Senior Client Partner

When Joy Knight joined the team at ICE two years ago as the Senior Graphic Designer and Studio Manager, the 29 year old never pictured herself as a project manager and leading on some of the company’s biggest contracts.

However soon after arriving at ICE, it became apparent that Joy possessed natural leadership skills, meaning she was well suited to the role and it's one she's taken to with incredible passion and professionalism.

Joy, who is a Senior Client Partner at ICE now project manages a team who mainly focus on delivering the Department of Health's National Healthy Schools Programme and 'You're Welcome' campaigns. Having studied for a BA (Hons) in Multimedia Arts, Joy explains: "I always planned for a career in Graphic Design, so in one sense the move to Client

Partner was really unexpected, but one I find incredibly rewarding as it's constantly evolving and still allows me to use many of the creative skills I studied for.

"I really enjoy working for a company that can recognise an individual's talent and will help you to develop your potential, because it doesn't just benefit us as individuals, but also the clients and partners we are working to support."

Outside of work hours, the past year has also brought along a few other surprises for Joy, who has just returned to work after tying the knot with husband Andy. Still sporting her holiday tan, after enjoying a Greek Island Honeymoon, Joy adds: "It was gorgeous… a total paradise, all we did was go to the beach, eat, drink cocktails and sleep!"

In her spare time Joy also enjoys going to the gym, as well as spending time with her 7 nieces and nephews all under the age of five!!
