ICE PICKS a round up of Project News
Community Alcohol Intervention
Specialist health workers recruited
ICE has recruited specialist health workers as part of a groundbreaking new approach to a social marketing project, which raises awareness about the health risks of excessive drinking and helps people to move into healthier long-term behaviours.

The ICE team delivering the project, Laura Black and Jay Mannhart, are working in specific communities across North Liverpool to help assess people’s alcohol intake and raise awareness about the effect of drinking too much.
On a day to day basis, the Community Alcohol Intervention Workers offer free and non-judgemental information and advice, and provide alcohol screenings in a range of local community venues, enabling a person’s drinking habits to be assessed as ‘safe’ ‘hazardous’ or ‘harmful’ and highlighting any potential risks to their health.
It’s all part of work ICE is doing to support ASSIST, a new alcohol awareness scheme which is being spearheaded by Liverpool Primary Care Trust and funded to promote sensible drinking and help tackle the rising levels of alcohol related health problems in target areas of the city.
