INSIDE ICE

Running the distance

Two of the team here at ICE have - quite literally - been running the distance for charity!

Our Creative Director, Ian Jackson, recently took part in the Coniston 14 Road Race, while PR Executive, Phoebe Rowell, completed Liverpool Half Marathon.

The 13.875 mile hilly route around Coniston Water was a big challenge for Ian, who’d never attempted a competitive run. He was raising money for Merseyside children’s charity Claire House, which provides respite, palliative, and terminal care for children and young people from 0-23 with a life threatening or life limiting illness, and their families.

Ian says, “ICE has built a strong reputation both locally and nationally for our ethical business approach and our work within the sphere of social marketing. As a team, we passionately believe in actively supporting and developing the wider community and for me, the Coniston 14 was just another way of helping to do just that!”

Meanwhile, Phoebe was one of 4,000 runners to line up for the Liverpool event. She was running in aid of Novimost International, which works with young people in Bosnia.

MEET THE TEAM

Over the coming months, we’ll be introducing you to some of the individuals who make up the award-winning ICE team. First up is Marketing Assistant, Paula Clay, who’s been with ICE since 2007. Initially aligned to the accounts department, she’s since made the transition to her primary area of interest – marketing.

Paula, who lives in Wallasey Village, Wirral, does a wide range of demographic research for the company’s social marketing specialism, as well contributing to marketing plans and overseeing the collation and cleansing of effective databases for the department.

She says, “I now feel I’m really able to own a project and drive it forward. I’ve also seen how the information and reports I’ve compiled can make a direct difference and help a client win work.”

Last year, she also embarked on an ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) to formalise her existing IT skills. Paula comments, “My motivation for doing the ECDL was to ‘prove’ my competency and brush up on the latest technological updates. Because I was able to do the ECDL via distance learning, it was really convenient and I could easily fit regular assessments at a nearby learning centre around work commitments.”

The work-life balance is also essential for Paula, who’s 30 this year and expecting her first child in June with partner Rob.

She adds, “Before I joined ICE, I was uncertain of my long-term career direction, but now, I feel really settled and have built some great working relationships. Plus, I can see that colleagues within ICE are happily raising families alongside successful jobs - and that really inspires me for the future.”
