ICE PICKS a round up of project news
ICE's interactive charity penguin gets communities talking
A life-size, interactive charity penguin – designed and sponsored by ICE – is enabling people to have their say on the big issues facing their local communities.
Taking pride of place at Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral, Penny the Penguin is part of the Go Penguins initiative – a ‘Winter’s Trail’ of 135 five foot tall penguins around Merseyside’s cultural highlights, on display until mid-January.
Our designers and digital media specialists have created the innovative Penguin using some of the latest interactive technology, in order to showcase our expertise in community consultation. It allows people to record their comments about the environmental and social issues affecting their local communities, which will then be fed back to a supporting website www.penny4athought.com where they can be viewed.
Building on ICE's expertise in community engagement and social marketing, the project is all about encouraging people of all ages – and from all sections of the community – to get talking and sharing ideas.
Penny the Penguin is also raising money for Liverpool Unites – a charity close to our heart, which is positively engaging children and young people by inspiring them to break the cycle of crime and poverty.
If you live in the area, why not come and visit our interactive, festive sculpture for yourself? Or visit us on Twitter or Facebook.
